About This Survey. The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) provides funding to qualifying landowners of Vermont farms and forests to implement conservation practices that protect our soils and water. There is a huge range of conservation practices that are eligible for funding from the NRCS but, given budget restrictions, not everyone who asks for assistance receives it. NRCS scores and ranks applicants based on criteria set by federal, state, and local priorities. We need your help in determining these local priorities so that NRCS dollars go towards the farm and forest practices we most value to address our most critical natural resource issues. Your responses will directly impact conservation efforts on Vermont farms and forests in our District.

The Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District is also launching a strategic planning initiative and is seeking more general input from District residents and partners regarding natural resource concerns. Your responses will directly impact where the District will choose to focus our efforts in outreach and education, technical assistance, monitoring, and project implementation. The survey includes questions to achieve both ends. This survey is open to farmers, forest owners, resource professionals, District partners and all District residents.

Thank you for your critical input!
